Note from Supervisor Babbitt

To the Folks of Grand Marais,

We’re sliding into the home stretch of winter. We embrace this busy time of year with snowmobiles and lots of folks visiting our little town. The U.P.200 was a huge success. We’ve sure had our share of snow and wind so I sure welcomed the sunshine the other day. I’m sure we’re not done yet and we’ll have lots of snow for another 6 weeks or so of snowmobiling, skiing and winter fun.

As I settle into my role as your Supervisor, I’ve learned so much.

First, you can’t please everybody. Second, you can’t fix everything the first week. Third, you can’t take on the big projects until we address the little ones first. I’m trying to sort out the tasks and prioritize them in a way I can accomplish and do the most good. It’s not easy but we’ll get there. I thank everyone for their help and support and trusting in me to be your ears in the community. I have such a great team of help with the township board and support staff insuring we make our special little town the best it can be.

We are gearing up for the busy summer ahead. Our campground will be full and our businesses will be serving the thousands of folks that drive hours to visit Grand Marais, our wonderful little town we call home. Thank you everyone for working together to make our town so special.
